People Painted The Shells Of Snails, So They Don’t Get Stepped On

What you’re about to see is both artistic and highly effective in safeguarding these small creatures. Snails are cool looking creatures that carry around their beautiful homes on their backs. Each shell is unique, so it’s no wonder that photographers love to snap pictures of them and kids also adore them.

Unfortunately, with their natural shells, they can easily be overlooked and stepped on. To stop this from happening as much, a few artistic people painted the shells of snails in vibrant colors to make them stand out. It makes them less likely to get stepped on by humans, but it may also guard them against predators. In the animal kingdom, most predators know to stay away from bright colors, which tend to signal poison! Plus, it’s a really unique artistic outlet.

If you think this is a cool idea and end up decorating snail shells yourself, please use non-toxic paint ONLY. Otherwise you may be doing more harm than good, when you’re pimping out snail homes.

About Sascha Brian

Sascha Brian
Known around here as "the German", I am indeed German, but have also spent some time traveling the world. With 10 years of my life spent in the United States, rumor has it that I may even know how to grill a great burger. I don't wear socks with sandals any longer, but I still drink beer and eat sauerkraut like a German. When I'm not writing about motivational and inspirational people on Like A Boss, I can usually be found lifting things up and putting them back down in my garage gym (a.k.a. the dungeon).
