To collect money for the Oregon Food Bank, a man named Anton Cobb from Portland, Oregon sets up a symbolic empty table at Director Park every Wednesday and spends his lunch break there. He’s trying to help feed hungry kids and so far has raised enough money for 1,200 meals (with a total of $400 collected by skipping lunch once a week).
Essentially he’s asking people to skip lunch and donate the money they’d spend on that to children in need instead. Considering many people eat way more than they should, it’s not really a big ask to skip one meal a week to feed multiple children. I think it definitely falls into the boss category of fundraisers and this guy is doing great things with just one hour a week. Very productive.
If you’re ever in Portland around lunch time on a Wednesday, go see Mr. Cobb and hand him a fiver!
